How to texture Poser figures in MojoWorld

MojoWorld will do a fairly reasonable job of applying Poser texture maps to complex Poser figures when supplied with a .mtl file from Poser. One large issue with Poser 4 figures, however, is transparency mapping. Poser does not write transparency information into the .mtl file, so it must be applied in MojoWorld "by hand". This tutorial covers how that is done. Note that this tutorial works best with MojoWorld version 1.1.

Set up the figure in Poser and export it out to a single Wavefront OBJ file, the .mtl file and the associated image maps, including any transparency maps. Place those files into the same folder with the .mjw world file into which you wish to import the figure.

Use the plug icon to access the import mesh menu item. Locate the .obj file and click OK. The cursor will change to indicate that MojoWorld is ready to place the mesh. Drag with the cursor in the RTR window to initially place and scale the figure.

MojoWorld will read the .mtl file and will create a "nested material" for the figure. This is what the material on the figure looks like after the first leaf is expanded:

Each numbered material listed here can be edited separately by clicking on the arrow icons located between the material numbers and the drop-down list boxes showing the individual material names.
