MojoWorld FAQ's

Free Transporter and Generator Demo

Q. Hey, I thought the Transporter was supposed to be free, but here it says the registration code is good for only 30 days. What's up with that?

A. You are welcome to use the Transporter as long as you'd like. We only ask that you visit the site every 30 days to get a new registration code. There are two reasons behind this - the first is that it's a way to make sure you've got the latest version of the Transporter and the second is that it'll let us know that we have a dedicated Transporter user. The more dedicated Transporter users we have, the more we will believe that our vision of MojoWorld and what it means to the web and graphics community is valid.

Follow-up Q. Whoa, does that mean I have to download and re-install this thing every time it expires?

A. No, you do not need to download and/or re-install every time a registration code expires. It'll automatically prompt you to request an updated key.

Q. Hey, I _just got_ the Transporter and/or the Generator Demo and it already says the key is expired! What's up with that?

A. The first thing to do is to make sure that your system date and time are set correctly. Registration codes are good for a fixed amount of time based on the time they are generated. For Transporter codes, that's 30 days and for Generator Demo codes, that's 14 days. If one is present, remove the 'mojoworld.ini' file from the folder containing the Transporter or Generator Demo application, double-check the system time and date and then launch the app again to have it prompt for the key.

General

Q. Hey, I heard a rumor there was some sort of MojoWorld Benchmark. What's up with that?

A. I am no longer updating the MojoWorld Benchmark page, but the benchmark world file and all of the information is still here so that you may compare your results.

Q. The version 1 manual talks about mountains 40,000 meters high on the default planet, but I sure don't see any mountains that tall on the default planet I'm looking at. What's up with that?

A. The default planet changed a lot between versions 1.0 and 1.1. The new default planet is much more interesting. But it also doesn't relate to what is in the manual for some of the tutorials. Fortunately, I saved a copy of the original default planet, which you can download here. It's called "simple.mjw". I think it also comes with the free Transporter but I don't see it on the Transporter planets downloads page. You may also want to check out this discussion of the original default planet in the tutorial section, written by guest tutorialist Chris Drake - it's a view of that original default planet through the eyes of a beginner. If you're new to MojoWorld, this is a good place to start learning what's where and why.
